3D Form with Seven Linear Frameworks
This project was meant to use the platonic (or Archimedean) solids to display movement in seven linear frameworks.By creating a curve where each piece (which was smaller by two inches) sat in the edge of the piece before it--I created a distinct flow that created an interesting piece. Overall, I found this project to be the most fulfilling. You can stand the piece on several edges, I found that the most interesting angle is when it is standing on the smallest triangle's face.
3D Form with Linear Layers
For my final project, I was once again asked to convey movement--by using one hundred popsicle sticks. Through trial and error, I found an interesting element that was created when I adjusted both the height and angle of the popsicle sticks. This segment recurs four times to create a structure that stands at three points. Each curves interacts with the negative space and pieces to create one unified look.
Platonic Solids
These photos are a collection of platonic and Archimedean solids made for my 3D Design: Form and Structure course. These solids are the first of four projects created to explore the 3-dimensional creative process. These pieces represent an overarching theme present in the course-- both platonic and Archimedean solids are a central part of the fundamental design process not only within 3D design, but all design.
